Moodle Auto-enrollment FAQ

We’ve gotten a lot of questions about yesterday’s Moodle announcement, and I wanted to take a moment to address some of the most frequently asked questions:

Will this change my Spring term schedule? I thought registration for Spring was finished!

This change will not affect your course registrations or your Spring schedule. This change is only related to how you access your course content in Moodle. Previously you would have to sign up for your classes in Moodle manually, now you will automatically receive access to them.

How will I access my past courses? There are materials from my previous courses that I would still like to review.

Access to courses you have previously completed will not be removed. You can view your previous courses by clicking the “past” tab on the dashboard.

How can I access courses I am not registered for? How will I access a class if I am a TA?

If there are courses you are not registered for and you would like to view the course content, or you need to access the course as a TA, you will need permission from the instructor. Your instructors will still be able to manually enroll additional students on a case-by-case basis. Simply contact the course instructor and ask them to add you to the course. If the instructor is not sure about how to do this, please give them my contact information (jfowler@nunm.edu) and I will be glad to send them instructions.

My Dashboard is already too cluttered. How can I remove classes from my dashboard?

If you previously enrolled in some course pages that you would like to remove, especially informational pages such as clinic pages or resources like the hydrotherapy page, you can remove those courses from your dashboard by following these instructions to unenroll. Note that many of these pages have been updated to allow “guest access,” which means you can now view the content on the page without the requirement to “enroll” in the course. This is intended to help reduce the number of links that you have to keep on your dashboard.

If you have any other questions about these upcoming changes, please let me know.

Thank you,
