“Watsu”, the literal translation is a treatment that combines Water with “Shiatsu”; a massage therapy that draws from Chinese Medicine originally based in Japan. Watsu has profound beneficial effects for trauma (physical and emotional) and has been used with therapeutic application for a variety of medical issues in Naturopath. This presentation is open to the entire NUNM community and will focus on the origins, foundation, applications and benefits of Watsu. CE PENDING
About our speaker: Son of a Physician and a Nurse, Victor has been fascinated by the human body and it’s interconnected workings from a very young age. This passion led him to a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2005 in Spain. After years of working in different realms of healthcare as a Physical Therapist and Massage Therapist in Europe, he became a Watsu provider in 2012 with the International school of Watsu, a Licensed Massage Therapist in Oregon in 2016, and a Watsu® Practitioner in 2018 with the World Wide Aquatic Bodywork Association. He has been practicing bodywork, massage and manual therapy professionally for over 14 years and his training through the years has been extensive (+2500h) with different schools and international well-known teachers in Europe and in the USA. He seamlessly combines into his Watsu sessions a wide variety of techniques, including, Myofascial Release, Shiatsu, Craniosacral Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, and different advanced manual therapy techniques.
